Key Economic Region of Vietnam
Viet Nam is a country that belongs to the socialist economic market, and at present the Vietnamese economy belongs to a developing country. Vietnam has 4 key economic zones: the Northern Economic Region, the Central Economic Region, the Southern Economic Region, and Mekong Delta Key Economic Region, which includes 24 provinces and directly administered central cities.
- North Key Economic Region
Established in 1997, it includes: Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong. Two provinces were added in 2004: Vinh Phuc and Bac Ninh. The Northern Key Economic Region is considered the political, economic, cultural and scientific and technological core of the country, and is the operational center of the central authorities, many major economic organizations and training centers. This is also the core area, as a driving force to promote the economic development of the Red River Delta Region. Among them, Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh constitute a triangular development zone in the northern key economic region, thereby expanding and attracting other regions to develop together, and are closely linked in the process of promoting the economic development of the Red River Delta Region.
- Central Key Economic Region
Established in 1997, it includes: Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. One province was added in 2004: Binh Dinh Province. Located in the middle of northern and southern Vietnam, the Central Key Economic Region is the most important gateway from the Tay Nguyen Zone to the seaside. The zone is of strategic significance and conducive to the formation of an important economic and trade exchange corridor connecting the Tay Nguyen region, Cambodia, Myanmar and the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The economic development of the region will contribute to the transformation of the economic structure, rational development of financial and labor resources, solving employment problems, and developing the basic facilities of coastal areas such as north-central and south-central regions.
- South Key Economic Region
Strategically located in national, international and regional important transportation hubs, there are many convenient entrances and exits in river, rail, sea and air. The Region has an important strategic position, concentrates the conditions and advantages for the development of important industries, and is in a leading position in the cause of industrialization and modernization in the country. In the process of formation and development, the southern key economic zones and the national key economic zones have given play to their regional advantages, formed open economic advantages, urgently combined with domestic and foreign market demand, promoted the transformation of the economic structure in the right direction, promoted macroeconomic stability, and especially helped and promoted the socio-economic development of the neighboring areas of the region.
- Mekong Delta Key Economic Region
It is a national rice production, breeding, fishing and processing fishery area, and has made significant contributions to the country’s agriculture and fishery production.
